I still remember the moment I got a DM on LinkedIn from ATOVA after applying for their internship program. Not long after, I had one of the most unforgettable interviews with Kak Nurul, I did my best to show who I really was, but I still couldn't believe it when I got the offer!
Project Intern at ATOVA Indonesia
When I was asked if I was ready to relocate, I didn't hesitate. With a firm heart and clear intentions, I said yes. And just like that, I left Jakarta behind and landed in Bali where I was warmly welcomed at the airport by ATOVA's staff and fellow interns. Everyone greeted me with such kindness. It still felt unreal that I was here, In Bali, part of something this meaningful.
First Impressions: A Life-Changing Space
My first impressions of Fieldbase? Honestly mind blowing. Everything was so new. As they explained the routines, 7 core values, and daily life at ATOVA, I was both amazed and inspired. Back in Jakarta, my lifestyle was chaotic. I didn't think much about eating well or taking care of my body. But here, I found something different I didn't know I needed.
After just two weeks, I aleady felt changes in myself. Healthier food, daily exercise, meaningful reflection it's all part of the rythm at Fieldbase. What I used to think of as "small things" turned out to have a big impact.
And the community? It's built on trust, teamwork, and zero seniority. Everyone supports one another, and that energy is contagious.

Lessons Beyond the Classroom
ATOVA Doesn't teach through textbooks it teaches through real-life experiences. Last week, I completed my very first First Aid training and received a certification I never thought I'd earn. It was empowering.
We also live and breath ATOVA's 3 Pillars "Mastery of the body, Mastery of the Mind, Mastery of the Spirit", and the 7 Core values "Courage, Empathy, Discipline, Respect For Others, Integrity, Loyalty, Selfless Committment". These aren't just principles written on the wall they guide every decision, every action, and every relationship we build here.
Being in this environment has helped me grow not only professionally, but also as a person.

The people who make it Special
One of the best parts of this journey has been the people i've met. Kak Ina and Kak Oloan, our Program Leaders, have been so supportive and thoughtful. Their guidance helped me to adjust quickly and feel like i belonged.
Another unexpected but beautiful part of Fieldbase life. Roommates. Something completely new for me. I now share a space with Krisna, a Balinese local, and Ade from Medan. We come from different cities, Cultures, and beliefs but under ATOVA's roof, we're united by the same mission.
Living with them has been a joy. We learn from each other every day and remind each other why we're here. These connections make the experience even more meaningful.

My advice for Future Volunteers
If you're about to start your ATOVA journey, here's what I'd love to tell you:
Say yes to discomfort. Growth lives outside your comfort zone.
Come with an open mind and an open heart. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Be present. Every sunrise, every group meal has something to teach you.
Respect the process. You don't need to be perfect you just need to be willing.
And yes. . . bring extra socks. Trust me.

Final Reflections: This is Just the Beginning
ATOVA isn't just an internship it's a mindset shift. A reminder that real impact happens on the ground, through community, humility, and action.
I came here unsure of myself, unsure of what I could offer. But now... I wake up every day feeling grounded, driven, and incredibly grateful to be part of this family.
To anyone thinking of joining.. JUST DO IT. Your story is waiting. And it might just change your life.
This isn't just a field placement, it's a transformation. And I'm just getting started!
